The Proposal……
Emma….’Kareem was leaving for a trip home to Egypt (I would be joining him there about five days later) and took me out to a Japanese dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in New York – Zenkichi (also in Williamsburg!). It is the place where he first told me he loved me. After a bottle of sake, he finally said, “I think we should do this.” I asked, “Is this the moment I’ve been waiting for?!” and he said it was. We laughed a lot and of course I said yes.’ |

The dress and accessories….
Emma…..’An Oscar De La Renta sweetheart silk taffeta gown with tiered ruffle train in oyster (just off white). I liked it because it looked like a flamenco dancer’s dress. I wanted to wear something I could imagine dancing all night in. Accessories: Jimmy Choo gold glitter peep toe pumps and Miriam Haskell chandelier earrings, yellow gold with glass pearls.’ |

The invitations…..
Emma….’We kept to a white and rose/pink invitation. We wanted something very classic, so we used letterpress for the text. We also needed to accommodate a bilingual invitation, so we chose a trifold design. The text was on the second and third panels, and the front panel, what one would see first when they opened their envelope, was an image of the Brooklyn Bridge, blind debossed. We wanted something very simple and elegant. We used an incredible calligrapher for our addresses, Mary Anne Wolfe, who matched the ink with the rose of the text in our invitations.’ |

Reception decor…..
Emma…..’The location for the reception is a glass and metal structure, like a greenhouse, that I wanted to light up like a lantern. Each table was covered with white hemstitch 100% linen tablecloths (with matching napkins). The centerpiece was composed of a series of hurricanes with white pillar candles inside, and three smaller bouquets (white and pink flowers) integrated into the design.’ |

Emma…..’The wedding cake was two flavors: Vanilla cake with passion fruit curd as a filling and vanilla Swiss buttercream frosting. Chocolate cake with salted caramel and chocolate Swiss buttercream filling – vanilla Swiss buttercream frosting. We had five tiers, very simple design on white wooden pedestal cake stand. It was all white, with three pink sugar garden roses as the sole decoration.’ |
