Jessica shares a little info with us…..’Peter and I were married October 3 at the private home of Peter’s Uncle and Aunt in Bluemont, VA. We had 140 guests. One of my 3 brothers served as my man of honor. We were married on the dock of a lake by one of our very best friends. The guys all wore Calvin Klein suits and brown vans sneakers. The ladies picked their own dresses from various retailers in the same shade and all wore yellow shoes. My dress was from Priscilla of Boston, the Vineyard collection, style name: Lucy. My hair flower was from Oh My Deer.
The flowers were by Holly Heider Chapple and Don’s Dahlias. Holly provided the bouquets, bout for man of honor and flower arrangements in the milkglass vases. I picked up all of the dahlias from Don and Peter’s cousin arranged them the morning of the wedding in the blue mason jars and on the dock. I am forever in debt to my mom who worked hard for months on the tent decor. She made the ‘Just Married’ banner that hung behind us while eating as well as all of the burlap drapes. She thought of details that I never would have thought of or just didn’t have the time to think about! My grandmother made the burlap table runners. The table numbers were vintage playing cards I found on Etsy. I made the escort card holder display using an old screen door I found at my mom’s house and hung the cards with mini clothes pins. Peter and I painted the various wooden signs directing guests around the property. We also made many of the chalkboards. It was very much a diy family wide effort! The caterer was Savoir Fare Limited. We had butlered hors d’oeuvres of fried pickles, mini grilled cheese with shots of cream of tomato soup, mini hamburgers. Dinner was a family style buffet of Pear parmesan salad, chicken pot pies, garlic mashed potatoes, macaroni and cheese, collard greens, grilled vegetables, sweet potato soufflé.(We also had corn bread, biscuits, zucchini bread, pumpkin bread. Cupcakes were provided by My Darling Cupcake (family friend from CT) and homemade cookies were made by various family members. Everyone’s hair was done by Devon Langlas (she was awesome!), makeup was done by my bridesmaid Stella who happens to be an esthetician and make up artist. Lucky for me! Instead of a bouquet/garter toss we had pinatas. Guests could play croquet on the lawn and some even played football with a football that someone happened to have.’ |
