REAL {FLORIDA} E-SESSION – EKECIA & DWAYNE

Happy Wednesday Guys….I’m so excited to open the cafe with the beautiful engagement session of Ekecia & Dwayne….Ekecia is a ‘cafe fan’ and I received the sweetest email from her letting me know how much she loved stopping by the cafe and that she would like to share her & Dwayne’s images with us…I have to tell you, that it always makes my day hearing from my wonderful cafe readers….you all are the best and you all are going to love Ekecia & Dwayne’s lovely feature.
Ekecia is an attorney and Dwayne is a State Representative in the FL House of Representatives….they are such a beautiful couple and their sweet e-session was captured by Sterling Gibson of Shutter Nduljence Photography….Sterling’s work is AMAZING…so happy to have him stop by today…and I’m excited to share their feature with my wonderful friends over at Essence Magazine On-line….make sure you check them out…Enjoy!!

Ekecia shares the story of how her and Dwayne met….. ‘On March 4, 2010 I attended my first Florida AKA Day at the Capitol since relocating to Tallahassee the prior winter. Dwayne, after some chiding from his legislative assistant, reluctantly arrived on the 22nd floor of the capitol to bring greetings to the AKA members. When he tells this story, he says that he stepped off of the elevator and I was standing there- a vision which rendered him speechless. I was unable to hear the greetings that he brought to the group, as I was in the rear of the building in search of lunch. After I secured lunch, I noticed Dwayne nearby. Thereafter, another legislator whom I’ve known since college, came over and greeted me with a hug after bringing his own regards to the members. The legislator then returned to Dwayne, at which time, there was some inquiry into my identity. The legislator summoned me over so that he could introduce me to his colleague Dwayne under the guise that he could help me to secure tickets to the upcoming Black Legislators Gala.Dwayne pulled me to the side and we chatted for a few moments. He asked if he could take me to dinner sometime, to which I responded coyly, ‘I’ll think about it’. We had lunch a week or so later and enjoyed each other’s company so much that we had dinner and a movie the same night. We ended up attending that Gala together and the rest, they say, is history.’
