REAL CALIFORNIA WEDDING – ROBIN & MATT

I was so happy to receive an email from my friend and AMAZINGLY talented photographer, Jess Epstein…..Jess’ work is always so beautiful and she is the sweetest person…today, Jess is sharing the beautiful wedding of Robin & Matt….they  were married at Chileno Valley Ranch in the last week of June and I am so excited to share their story with you…… Matt is a restaurateur and recently opened AQ in San Francisco…..and Robin is a ballerina with Smuin Ballet.  Jess shares all the details with us….Enjoy!!

‘The location was really special to the couple. They found Chileno about three years ago on a search to find grass fed beef for Matt’s restaurant. Driving up to the ranch that day they had no idea they would not only find delicious grass fed beef, but also stumble upon a breathtaking property, majestic livestock and welcoming ranch owners.

It turned out the ranch owners were ballet fans and they had seen Robin and her company perform many times! The connection they both felt towards Chileno Valley Ranch was immediate. When they got engaged, Chileno was the first (and only) venue they considered for their wedding.

The couple and their family combined forces to bring so many special elements to the venue and to the event. Together the couple and the mother of the Bride counted up over 20 handmade things they used on the day, including handmade hankies for close friends likely to shed happy tears, a hand-drawn map to guide the guests to the venue (where there was no cell or GPS service!), the guest favors which were seeds in little custom-made bags and herb pots used as centerpieces on the tables and the little cake toppers.

The bride’s dad and the groom made signs out of old fence posts, pretty streamers to mark the trail to the ceremony, and an antique looking menu sign for dinner.

The day was like a dream for the bride and groom but the guests had the exact experience they had wanted for them. They wanted the wedding to feel elegant, even though we were miles from any large town and in the open air. The day started formally with ushers seating guests and a receiving line and gradually got more and more relaxed, with self serve food stations and then dancing in the barn. It was a beautiful event and really special for the whole family and all the guests! Congratulations to Robin and Matt! ‘

Jess, thanks so much and guys, check out Jess’ blog site to see so much more of her gorgeous work and to Robin & Matt, we wish you a lifetime filled with happiness and joy!
