LAUREN NAPIER’S MAKEUP TIPS TO ‘BEAT THE HEAT’

I’m am so excited to have the oh-so-beautiful and talented , makeup artist, Lauren Napier of Lauren Napier Weddings stop by today….Lauren is here to share a few ‘Beat The Heat‘ make-up tips with us…..perfect timing right….it’s going to be a ‘hot and humid’ day…or should I say week…at least on the east coast!!

I love having the ‘pros’ stop by the cafe and Lauren is definitely one lady that you need to add to your ‘must contact list’ for your wedding day…..she has the ‘it factor’ and she totally enhances the beauty from within you……so without further ado….let’s check out what Lauren has in store for us today…thanks Lauren!!

‘Summer is in full swing and things are heating up! As the mercury continues to rise you’re wondering, “How can I keep my makeup from melting?”Start with the Shu Uemura PuRenovate Intense Pore Perfecting Solution.

Perfect for oily and combination skin, Intense Pore Perfecting Solution reduces excess shine. After applying the solution your pores appear tightened and minimized.  Skin appears smoother and more refined. Use in moderation, a little goes a long way!

If you have a normal to dry complexion try Dr. Susan Taylor’s Rx for Brown Skin Bright and Healthy Ultra-Gentle Moisturizer. This moisturizer provides soothing and hydrating ingredients that minimize ashiness and offers lasting moisture to the skin.

If you have trouble with foundation dripping or transferring onto your collars, avoid using heavy creams that melt with rising body heat and outdoor temperatures. Substitute a pencil concealer and a pressed powder as a cover up, these products have less creamy consistency and are less likely to melt.

Instead of continuously layering powder over your complexion – possibly clogging your pores, use NARS blotting powders to avoid congesting healthy skin. Skin is a living organ. Remember, where there is heat and moisture, there grows bacteria. Avoid touching your face with your hands, clean your cell phones which constantly touch your cheeks and temples, change your pillow cases more often if you’re likely to sweat at night and most importantly toss old makeup sponges!

If runny mascara is your battle try Stila’s Lash Visor Waterproof Mascara to combat oily mascara runoff.’

When Lauren stopped by in May, cafe reader Candice sent over an ‘Ask the Expert Question‘ for Lauren..of course, Lauren immediately responded back to Candice, but we wanted to share the Q&A with you just in case you are having the same issue…..Thanks Candice!

Q. What type of lipstick, lip stain, lip gloss, lip pencil should I be using? Some people have told me I can only wear dark lipsticks (burgundy, plums) but they make me look MUCH older than I am. I think darker lip color makes me look much more serious. Any suggestions for something that can be worn during the day and into the evening (maybe nudes, pinks). Any feedback would be MUCH appreciated! I need serious help 🙂

A. Hi Candice, Thank you for your question. In life there is no perfect pair. One foot is larger than the other, one brow is arched higher than it’s partner and sometimes one lip is darker than the other! Here are a few quick steps that will make it easy for you, the master of the sultry nude lip.

Step 1. Fill in both lips with the nude liner. This will neutralize the deeper pigment in your lip.

Step 2. use a fleshy matte pink or pale peach to create an inviting lip toned pallet. Try a creamy lip stick or lip pot then apply with a brush.

Step 3. Finish with a pearlized gloss to create dimension. It’s the icing on the cake! This will create the perfect nude lip! Here are a few product suggestions:

(1)  BOBBI BROWN LIP PENCIL IN HONEYSUCKLE

(2)  LAURA MERCIER LIP STAIN IN MOCHA OR PEACH GLAZE

(3)  M.A.C. VIVA GLAM VI * Every cent of the selling price of VIVA GLAM Lipstick and Lipglass is donated to the M·A·C AIDS Fund to support men, women, and children living with HIV and AIDS.
