MEET MARIA MAXIT OF MAXIT FLOWER DESIGN
| Hi Guys….It’s ‘Meet the Designer’ series and guess who we have stopping by the cafe today….the oh-so-beautiful and talented Maria Maxit of Maxit Flower Design….Maria services the Houston, TX area AND she loves to travel…so, don’t hesitate to contact her to come to your area….her floral designs are simply gorgeous and although I’ve only met her via email, I feel as though I’ve known her for sometime…I love her designs and I know you will too….her style is AMAZING and so happy to have Maria stop by the cafe today…let’s check out Maria’s interview and all the pretty floral designs she sent over to share with us….Enjoy!! |

| TBC: Describe your client?
MM: I’ve been so lucky to have some of the most amazing clients! They are all intelligent, flower loving and very trusting. TBC: What’s a typical day like for you? |

| TBC: Where do you find inspiration? MM: Everywhere…fashion, photography, interior design, textiles, architecture and nature to name a few. TBC: Name one of your favorite “vendor” sources that you just can’t do without. MM: They are all so valuable. Ribbons, containers, flowers etc.

| TBC: Describe your design style. MM: Textured, feminine, and romantic. I love classic design styles that are filled with lots of flowers and overflowing in a garden style. But I will rock out the simplicity of hand tied roses in a beautiful vase any day. I find it so important to be challenged by design and allowing your client to guide you through their desires. As an artist I love to be challenged. TBC: To date, what has been the highlight of your career? MM: So many! Just last week I was asked to help Karen Tran with a local project.

| TBC: When I’m designing, I love to light my candles and play “old school” music. Do you have a ritual that you like to do when designing?
MM: I love to play music, nothing in particular but something that sets the mood at the moment. TBC: What’s your favorite part about weddings when it comes to the florals? MM: Making the bridal bouquet, it’s the first piece of your work that the bride sees and it’s the most personal part of the wedding. |

| TBC: Describe a “wedding weekend and how many additional staff do you hire?
MM: I wish it all started on the weekend, but as all flower designers know the wedding process starts on Monday and doesn’t end till the breakdown of the wedding on a Saturday evening. As far as hiring, it depends on the size, somewhere between one and five. |

| TBC: Finish this statement: A bride’s bouquet should reflect……
MM: The bride’s personal style. |

TBC: What was your “big break”? TBC: What advice would you give to upcoming floral designers? MM: Work in a flower shop, work for a large floral production company, volunteer your time to local designers and create relationships with your vendors. There is nothing more important than putting your time in to the people that have been doing this for decades….they can teach you a thing or two.

| TBC: If you had to make a career change, what would you do?
MM: Something with design, I would love to help design and style photo shoots. TBC: Describe your personal style…what are your favorite stores to shop at? MM: I have a very minimalistic style, simple, clean lines, and earth tones. I’m not a big shopper… but if I have to purchase something I prefer to stick to local boutiques that offer simple unique basics. |
