Hi Guys….I am SO excited to introduce our featured guest today….say hello to Meredith Waga-Perez of Belle Fleur….I truly ADORE Meredith….not only is she a successful business woman, along with her mother, Marilyn….Meredith is such a beautiful lady…inside and out….I love her style and her passion for flowers is AMAZING and it shows in all the grogeous designs at Belle Fleur. | The Bride’s Cafe: Meredith, we all love your work and we are always excited to see your gorgeous designs featured in the bridal publications, can you share with us how the concepts come about….are they pertaining to “what’s hot” in the industry at the time? The black and white color palette in this feature is simply gorgeous….how did you come up all the “perfect details” for the black and white theme? Meredith: I have always loved black & white Anemones, they photograph beautifully and have such a timeless and chic quality. Everything else fell into place seamlessly and brilliantly on this Modern Bride shoot. I had the most amazing time shopping for all the different elements, not to mention collaborating with such talented artists like Ron Ben Israel and Bernard Maisner.

| The Bride’s Cafe: In your opinion, what is the one thing that gives the reception the “WOW” factor? Meredith: I think it’s fair to say that a question like this belongs to another kind of designer like the talented Preston Bailey. I actually never really liked to “WOW” a crowd. Instead I tend to get much more passionate about the most beautiful details. I love to set the mood with color, tell a story with flowers and create an ever-lasting memory with personalized elements. I’m a true romantic, and when it comes to weddings I feel that that “WOW” is far too theatrical for Belle Fleur. I’m so much more into quiet luxury, subtle nuances and fashionable details that guests gush over. |

| The Bride’s Cafe: What are the floral trends for this wedding season? Meredith: Years ago I rarely incorporated foliage into my designs, I used to refer to greenery as “filler”. I’m proud to say I’m continuing to evolve as a designer and on a daily basis I’m incorporating the most beautiful leaves, vines and tendrils into Belle Fleur’s designs. Possibly it’s the effect of the environmental trends, or maybe it’s because there are so many fascinating foliages now available in the marketplace. I love the delicate nature of Israeli Peppergrass, or the soft velvety touch of Lambs Ear. Organically intertwining these very special ingredients into any color palette of flowers can truly make the arrangements come alive.

| The Bride’s Cafe: What are the key factors to look for when choosing your floral designer? Meredith: I think a bride absolutely needs to have a genuine rapport with her florist. Definitely stay away from a florist that simply yeses you with every question asked, or cops an attitude with their strong opinions. It’s more important that there is inspiring conversation between florist and bride, remember that it’s a collaboration…a meeting of the minds. It’s very important to look through the designer’s portfolios, maybe even visit a wedding that they are setting up, but really most important to have the level of trust that this designer is able to understand your vision and execute it to perfection. |

| The Bride’s Cafe: What do you thing is the one thing that separates you from other designers? Meredith: It’s kind of hard to narrow it down to one thing. First and foremost, I’m a floral enthusiast with a great deal of knowledge about my industry, a broad range of available resources and also the ability to design in many different genres and styles. Second, that I honestly care about each and every wedding more than one can imagine…the details consume me and I am often up late at night trying to come up with one last element that pulls the floral story together ( By the way, it’s 2:27 am right now…this is when all the creative juices flow). And lastly and probably most important, because I feel that I can take a single idea…a piece of lace from her wedding dress, the fragrance of the first flower he gave to her, the description of her Mom’s garden…and run wild with it. The perfect example is this black & white story…a single anemone is the source for endless inspiration.
