From Keshawn:…..’It was important for our wedding day to reflect our personalities and things we love, be non-traditional but still feel like a wedding celebration. I fell in love with the Millennium Gate from the first moment I stepped foot on its grounds months before our engagement. I love that it stands, classically styled architecturally near a peaceful still lake, amidst modern skyscrapers and busy city streets. It strikes a chord with me that reminds me of our relationship. Modern, yet classic. Filled with history, but reflective of our future.
Once we got engaged, it was a no brainer on where we’d exchange vows. We chose TWELVE because it was in close proximity to the Millennium Gate and enabled me to have the processional for my wedding that I’d always envisioned. I am drawn to grand architecture and 18th century art but I didn’t want to recreate a Marie Antoinette set up. I preferred to merely nod in that direction while incorporating fresh, modern elements and moments of play and surprise to keep it light and fun for all.
J.R.’s easy-going demeanor brought balance to the vision. In the midst of majestic archways, skyscrapers, lush floral arrangements, harps and strings were popsicles, grey tuxes (instead of traditional black), balloons and fried chicken!

I had 2 pairs of shoes, one was Glint and the other was Audrey Brooke. I wore an unstructured, Fine & Fleurie tulle birdcage veil with pearl and rhinestone costume jewelry. I also wore a branch-like, rhinestone headpiece in my hair that I purchased from a bridal consignment shop. |

The name of my dress is Norma by Watters. I tried on dozens before I found it in the 4th store I visited with my mom and then future mother-in-law. I knew it was the dress for me because as soon as I put it on, I began to twirl around and dance! I floated down the runway at the bridal salon and didn’t want to take it off. |

My bouquet was a small tear drop shape created with beautiful textures and subtle colors of cream and sand; including crème de la crème roses, vendela roses, seedy eucalyptus, dusty miller foliage, crème majolica spray roses, and cream stock nestled in a romantic color of tea stained lace. The handle was finished with a pearl cuff. Danny Wilson with The Savage Garden designed all the beautiful floral!’ |
