Linda shares…..’What I didn’t know about Vegas…Almost all venues do not allow your own photographer, you have to use the venues photographer (In many cases, they don’t even allow your guests to use DSLRs or flash photography). But if you have seen the portfolio of these hotel/casino photographers, they are your worst nightmare, think prom photos with really tacky photoshopping-vignettes, you name it.
James and I had to be a little creative when it came to the photography. First off, James is a photography hobbyist, so pictures were EVEN MORE a critical component. We told the wedding coordinator flat out that many of our friends were photographers, and that we wanted to sign a waiver allowing our guests full liberty of taking pictures- they trump the hotel’s photographer. Be sure to ask if this is possible. On the big day, it was clear that our photography friends (aka Glass Jar’s Whitney and Bethany) were running the picture show, and the hotel’s photographer took a back seat. The photography was included in our wedding package, so they are still getting paid, so they’re in essence being paid to hang back and relax. Because Vegas does countless weddings- everything was well orchestrated, they really know what they’re doing. All the decisions for flowers, cake, food, set-up, music were all so easy and removed all that typical wedding stress from the equation. We even got an amazing hook-up with the nightclub manager at PURE, and my entire wedding party got in VIP! My one recommendation (in hindsight) for brides wanting to change their names, be sure to change your name prior to the wedding day. In Vegas you have to go to City Hall before the ceremony, to get your All in all, Vegas was an the best decision for us, an affordable but tasteful location, and a very convenient locale for our guests, with all types of fun for an eclectic bunch.’
