SUMMER LOVING WITH LYDIA & DAVID

Welcome back to“Summer Loving” with Lydia & David……they are actually married….they flew to Vegas and eloped last year,  July 27, 2011.  Lydia & David are friends of mine and Lydia shared with me, that she wished her and David had ‘wedding images’……Dana and  I approached them about the shoot for Reverie Magazine, she was ecstatic!  Lydia is such a ‘girly girl’, so, we knew this would be perfect for them.  They are such a fun loving couple and we wanted to express this in the shoot…so, Dana and I went into ‘planning mode’ and after many late night calls….lots of emails and three hours of sleep the night before the shoot…..here’s what we came up with!!!

We choose all things that represented “Summer Loving‘….yummy color palettes of corals, yellows, pinks and oranges. We decorated the gazebo with orange and hot pink carnations (yes, carnations people!!) and multi-color pom poms and streamers.  The flowers that we used through out the design were peonies, coxcomb, craspedia (billy balls), orange parrot tulips, feverfew, and carnations!

We also incorporated pretty balloons, lanterns, cherries, and a cake that totally expresses summer loving with all the pretty shades of pink layers. The venue, Historic Mankin Mansion was perfect.  There are so many lovely details on the property…so perfect for a Virginia wedding!  Let’s check out all the beautiful images captured by the AMAZINGLY talented Anne of Anne Robert Photography….Enjoy!!

I have to share with you guys, two nights before the shoot, I’m at the mall searching for the perfect shoes….I’m taking pics of all the shoes I like and I’m texting all the images to Dana for a second opinion…oh, the things that go on behind the scenes of styled shoots…I really need to do a feature on that!!

The ladies from Blackbird Bakery did an AMAZING job with the wedding cake….we added the final touches with craspedia (billy balls), cox comb and clematis vine, feverfew and peonies!

Our friends at Pottery Barn let us borrow this cool drink carrier….don’t you love it…so fun for a summer picnic!

A fun way to display your seating cards….we used a wooden box filled with carnations….a fun DIY project!

Thanks SO much to everyone for helping to make our ‘Summer Loving’ shoot a sweet success…you all ROCK and and a special thank you to Dana, Anne, Anita and Steve for hanging with me in the heat and humidity to make this all happen…love you guys….xoxoxo
