TIME FOR TEA?
Truth be told. I’ve always been such a girl. Sure, I tried to play with the boys, show them I could hold my own in kickball… but yes, the things that make my heart pound are trimmed in ruffles and lace. Anything thats a little bit too frilly and reminds me of a big, fluffy pink peony- it immediately has my heart (…and also my wallet.) 🙂
Well anyway, all this girliness brings me to today’s post… Inspired by the tea time my grandmother used to have every afternoon at 4:00. These tea times were complete with pretty china tea cups and saucers, cookies, homemade swedish coffee bread… everything. And we even had it outside on the porch sometimes. A subtle, old fashioned, tea party theme is ideal for a late afternoon garden wedding, in my mind. But obviously, so many other venues would work as well. It’s what you want to do with it that matters! So sit back with some earl grey, and look to be inspired… which one of these ideas would you use? How would you add your personal touch? I’m excited to see what you think!

1. Themed Engagement Photos ~ if you are newly-engaged, you may be catching on to all the trendiness of themed engagement photos right now. My only theory is, don’t let the setting outshine your personalities. You don’t want to look back on those photos and think that you were ‘acting’ your love for each other… just let it come naturally. Those are the most priceless photos. A tea party theme is something you can definitely gauge to match your personality. Dress it up like ‘high tea’ in a fancy tearoom, or take the tea-set outside on the lawn. This couple below made it fun, whimsical and bright. Looking at the photos, you can tell they were bring themselves, and they had fun! |

3. Gifts to give & get ~ The stack of beautiful vintage teacups on the left make me so happy. I found this idea from Martha Stewart for a ‘themed bridal shower gift’, and I love it. Have the guests each bring a vintage teacup and saucer to the shower as a gift to the bride, leaving her with a gorgeous collection of mixed & matched loveliness. On the right, an idea for DIY tea & cookies favors. So sweet. |

4. Decor ~ in decorating for your wedding & reception, keep the decorations in the same vintage family as the tea party theme is. This table setting works because it all has that ‘antique’ feel to it, with the milk bottles, the book, lace tablecloth, etc… |

5. Centerpiece idea: Stackables ~ A little more ‘grown-up’ then an Alice in Wonderland theme, but still taking from that idea of teacups in disarray and making them ladylike, romantic centerpieces. They’re pretty much the easiest type of DIY… just stack ’em! |

6. Centerpiece Idea: Tea Canisters ~ Whether you prefer these bright, unique, vintage tea canisters, or a more toned down version to go with your color palette… these are a lovely way to change up regular flower vases. A non-floral option? Use them as candleholders. |

7. Dessert on Display ~ Another handmade Etsy find, these adorable tea-cup dessert trays are ideal for smaller, bite-sized desserts. Imagine how adorable a few layers of creme puffs would look on this. I lovvve this.

8. Tea-Party Themed Wedding Cakes ~ These cakes are my ultimate creativity-crush right now. These are just too unique and adorable for words… I can’t even stand it! I love that they are all white, so they let the details take center stage. |

10. DIY Tea Bar ~ I definitely want a tea & coffee bar at my wedding. This whole idea just makes me almost squeal with glee! My favorite part is the tea bags in mason jars. They have the sweetest little heart tags. Precious! |

11. Bouquet ~ Since I can’t bring myself to do a post without a gorgeous bouquet… how sweet would this little teapot charm be tied around the base of a pretty bouquet like this one? |
